30 Days of Kink: Day 17

What misconception about kinky people would you most like to clear up?

“Outsiders” often believe that a ‘kinky’ sexual orientation is equal to damage.
Something in our past has contributed to twisting our thought processes.
We have daddy-issues, we are seeking the abuse we may have suffered, we’re trying to steer clear of “real” commitment.. bla bla bla.
I am not saying damage is not a valuable tool to develop many skills in life, but damage is certainly not what motivates people to be submissive or sadistic.
If you view kinky tendencies as something “bad”, you will only explain them using the pop-psychology on your “bad” shelf.
If the world is full of endless wonder, it comes in many guises.

Also, there is a misconception I see within the kink community that I would like to clear up.
Being kinky DOES NOT mean you have to be an “intellectual”.
Being kinky can be a purely physical thing for many people and that is a choice they have the right to take, with dignity.
