That is how i remember the evening,
Outside; the fierce clouds did sing.
Neither quiet nor gentle was the music of the rain,
Mercilessly it showered a song awakening even the sane.
Just short of twilight it came,
The life of the forests put mine to shame.
Not for long, for they had a plan,
I was cast into their engulfing clan.
As the leaves rustled and blew,
I struggled beneath you and then I grew.
The twigs snapped and a part of life was gone,
You broke my bangles, and a part of me would never again see the dawn.
And as the mighty trees did persevere,
You cut me to pieces but I wasn’t even there.
As the weak were cut down by the downpour
Only corpses of my weakness would reach the shore.
As the night came calm and still,
You were sated and I was stronger still.
And as the words of silence were whispered into the dark,
I was ready, for the war that was coming would leave its mark.
